Farm Tour Stop 3: The Winery at La Grange

It’s a working farm and a vineyard. The Winery at La Grange grows five acres of cabernet sauvignon and three acres of Petit Manseng grapes to support its winery.

Melissa Stephan, director of winery operations for The Winery at La Grange, encouraged people in the area who’ve visited other farms on the 2011 Wild Western Prince William County Farm Tour to stop by La Grange from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday or Sunday to enjoy a close-up look at a working farm. Plus, visitors can enjoy bucolic views while they sit outside and taste the delicious wine, she noted.

The vineyard is a unique type of farm, Stephan explained, and noted this is a “great time of year to stop by” La Grange. It’s possible Farm Tour goers may even see some grapes being picked or processed, although Stephan expected there would be a limited chance of this. But seeing winemaking in action is interesting, she noted.

Plus, she said, “Our wine is delicious” and there are lots of comfortable places for people to sit and enjoy the vino and the beautiful scenery.

In addition, the Damon & Dave duo will be playing on Sept. 24. This “great acoustic duo” typically gets people up out of their seats and moving and grooving to the music. Everyone has a great time when Damon and Dave play, she continued.
