Family members charged in two cases involving children

Prince William County VA Police Department’s report of arrests on Monday, Aug. 22, 2016.**ARRESTS**

Sexual Assault Investigation – On August 7, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in Woodbridge (22191). The investigation revealed that the victim, a 14-year-old girl, was physically and sexually assaulted by the accused, identified as a family member, on more than one occasion between June 2010 and August 2016. The victim recently disclosed the assaults to another family member who contacted Child Protective Services. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.
Arrested on August 18:
Lourdes TERRAZAS, 36, of the 16000 block of Macedonia Dr in Woodbridge
Charged with 2 counts of aggravated sexual battery and 2 counts of indecent liberties by a custodian
Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond

Felony Child Neglect – On August 18 at 2:23PM, officers responded to a parking lot located in the 14000 block of Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a child neglect call. When officers arrived, they observed and made contact with two children, identified as a 5-year-old boy and a 1-year-old girl, left unattended in an unlocked vehicle which was left running. A short time later, the accused, the children’s mother, returned to the vehicle after shopping in a nearby business. The children were not injured. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. The children were released to the custody of a family member.

Syeda Bartool JAFFARI, 28, of the 12800 block of Evansport Pl in Woodbridge
Charged with 2 counts of felony child neglect
Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held on a $10,000 secured

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On August 20 at 9:02PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 1800 block of Islip Lp in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 26-year-old woman of Woodbridge, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim then grabbed her by the throat and began to strangle her. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

George Mensah YIADOM, 28, of the 17005 Islip Lp Apt 201 in Dumfries
Charged with strangulation and domestic assault & battery
