**ARRESTS**

Sexual Assault Investigation – On April 28, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in Woodbridge. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 17 year old female juvenile, was sexually assaulted on more than one occasion between 2007 and 2015 by the accused, identified as a family member. The victim recently disclosed the incidents to school staff who notified police. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
Arrested on April 29:
Jose Rodolfo GARCIA CRUZ, 39, of the 15000 block of Alabama Ave in Woodbridge
Charged with rape, aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties by a custodian

Sexual Assault Investigation – On April 28, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at several locations in Manassas. The investigation revealed that the victim, an 8 year old female juvenile of Manassas, was sexually assaulted on more than one occasion since 2013 by the accused, identified as a family member. The victim recently disclosed the incidents to school staff who notified police.  Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. The accused was located and arrested without incident on April 29.

Mazine Giovany BANEGAS, 42, of 9900 block of Gardenia Ln in Manassas
Charged with aggravated sexual battery and indecent liberties by a custodian

Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On May 1 at 4:55PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 15200 block of Leicestershire St in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 35 year old woman of Maryland, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused assaulted the victim then grabbed her by the neck and began to choke her. The parties eventually separated and the victim contacted police. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

Owen Martin HODGSON, 36, of the 15200 block of Leicestershire St in Woodbridge
Charged with strangulation and domestic assault & battery

Indecent Exposure – On May 1 at 1:59PM, officers responded to the area of Dale Blvd and Gideon Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an indecent exposure. Multiple callers reported to police that an unknown man, later identified as the accused, was walking in the roadway exposing himself. Officers arrived in the area and made contact with the accused who exhibited signs of intoxication. When the officers attempted to arrest the accused, he resisted but was quickly detained without further incident. The accused was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with indecent exposure, disorderly conduct, public intoxication, resisting arrest, and careless interference with traffic

**UPDATES**

Armed Robbery *ARRESTS – On May 1, detectives with the Robbery unit identified the suspects involved in a robbery which was reported to have occurred in the 14100 block of Essex Dr in Woodbridge on January 28. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the suspects. Two of the suspects, identified as Juan Geraldo ARTILES and Javier Antonio GALLO, were located and arrested without incident on May 1.  Attempts to locate the third suspect, identified as Zaid Osamah JAMEEL, have been unsuccessful.

Armed Robbery [Previously Released] – On January 28 at 6:24PM, officers responded to the 14100 block of Essex Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 48 year old man of Gainesville, reported to police that he met two unknown men in the above area to purchase a cell phone. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a handgun. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money from the victim before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding *ADDITIONAL SUSPECT IDENTIFIED – On April 28, detectives with the Robbery unit identified the second suspect involved in an assault which occurred at the Valero service station located at 17315 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries and a robbery which occurred at the 7-Eleven located at 16806 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries on April 27. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding [Previously Released] – On April 27 at 6:42AM, officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 16806 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery.  Employees reported to police that two unknown men entered the store. During the encounter, one of the men brandished a handgun and demanded money. At some point, an employee struck one of the men, later identified as Leonel Alferdo GRANADOS-ZELAYA, on the head with a stick causing a large laceration. The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. No other injuries were reported. A police K-9 responded and located GRANADOS-ZELAYA who was detained without incident. The second suspect was not located. Further investigation revealed that the two suspects were involved in a verbal altercation a short time earlier with an employee of the Valero service station located at 17315 Jefferson Davis Hwy in Dumfries which escalated. During the encounter, the suspects punched the employee in the face. The suspects left the business prior to police arriving. Minor injuries were reported to the victim. GRANDADOS-ZELAYA was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Following the investigation, GRANDADOS-ZELAYA was arrested. The investigation continues.

**INCIDENTS**

Homicide Investigation – On April 29 at 10:56AM, officers responded to the area of Cotton Mill Dr and Griffith Ave in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a found body. Officers arrived in the area and located the body of an adult woman presumed to be Lizeth Yadira Lopez, 36, who was reported as missing and endangered on April 19. The body was located near a drainage ditch in the above area and was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. At this time, the death is being investigated as a homicide and more information will be released when available. The investigation continues.

Armed Robbery – On May 1 at 5:21AM, officers responded to the 7-Eleven located at 18750 Fuller Heights Rd in Triangle (22172) to investigate a robbery. Employees reported to police that a two unknown man entered the store brandishing firearms and demanding money. The men took cigarettes and an undisclosed amount of money before fleeing on foot. No injuries were reported. A police K-9 was used to search for the suspects who were not located. The investigation continues.

Strong Armed Robbery – On May 2 at 12:34AM, officers responded to the 11100 block of Balls Ford Rd in Manassas (20109) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 67 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she was in the above area when she was approached by an unknown man.  During the encounter, the man grabbed the victim’s cell phone before fleeing the area on foot. No injuries were reported. Officers checked the area for the suspect who was not located. The investigation continues.

Black male, between 30 & 35 years of age, 5’10”, 160lbs with a thin build
Last seen wearing a hat, grey sweat pants, and black shoes

Attempted Strong Armed Robbery | Malicious Wounding – On April 30 at 9:27PM, officers responded to the 8300 block of Community Dr (20109) to investigate subjects fighting in the area. The victim, a 56 year old man of Manassas, reported to police that he was walking in the above area when he was approached by an unknown man asking for money. When the victim refused, the suspect punched the victim in the face causing a severe laceration. The suspect fled the area on foot and the victim returned to his residence where he later contacted police.  The victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries. Officers checked the area for the suspect who was not located. The investigation continues.

Attempted Malicious Wounding | Assault & Battery – On May 2 at 2:02AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13500 block of Lynn St in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate an assault. The victim, an 18 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was involved in a verbal altercation with two acquaintances which escalated. During the encounter, the suspects began assaulting the victim. When a family member of the victim attempted to intervene, the suspects retrieved machetes from a vehicle and attempted to strike both the victim and family member.  The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. The suspects fled the area prior to police arriving. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers identified one of the suspects, identified as Cristian Stevi CABALLO, and obtained warrants for his arrest. Attempts to locate CARBALLO have been unsuccessful. The investigation continues.

Sexual Battery | Domestic Assault & Battery – On May 1 at 2:30PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4000 block of Yellowstone Lp in Dumfries (222026) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, an 18 year old woman of Dumfries, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused pushed the victim to the ground and inappropriately touched her. When a family member of the victim attempted to intervene, the accused brandished a handgun then fled the area on foot. A police K-9 and helicopter responded to search for the suspect who was not located. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Residential Burglary – On April 28 at 11:37AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 8100 block of Peakwood Ct in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary. A resident reported to police that the burglary occurred between 11:00AM and 11:37AM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. A television and money were reported missing.
