Emergency bridge repair on I-95 southbound in Stafford

Motorists traveling on southbound Interstate 95 in the Fredericksburg area should anticipate travel delays while crews perform an emergency bridge deck repair near Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford County, according to a news release from Virginia Department of Transportation.

The right lane is closed on southbound I-95 at the Route 17 overpass.

Additionally, the on-ramp to I-95 southbound from Route 17 westbound is closed.

Southbound motorists may still exit to Route 17 eastbound and westbound at the I-95 interchange.

Crews are repairing a hole in the right travel lane by covering it with a secured steel plate. A permanent repair will be scheduled, VDOT said.
