Early morning fire on June 5 destroys four townhomes, displaces ten people in Montclair

On Sunday, June 5, 2022 at 1:44 AM fire and rescue units were dispatched to the 4000 block of Jonathan Ct. (Montclair) for reports of a townhouse on fire, according to Matt Smolsky, Fire Marshal and deputy fire chief of PWC Fire and Rescue.

Crews arrived with heavy fire showing and spreading to other residences and requested a second alarm to assist. The fire was quickly attacked and extinguished. No injuries were reported.
Smolsky said a total of four townhomes were damaged by the fire, and ten people, four children and six adults, were displaced after their homes were determined to be unsafe to occupy by the Building Official.

The Red Cross was on the scene to assist those displaced. The Fire Marshal’s Office was on the scene to determine the cause of the fire, which was improperly discarded smoking materials.
