Dumfries woman discovers bullet hole in home’s wall; neighbor arrested after police investigation

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On November 4 at 5:50AM, officers responded to the 17200 block of Nugent Ln in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shooting. The caller reported to police she discovered a bullet hole in her wall, coming from the neighboring residence. Upon further investigation, officers determined that the accused had allegedly inadvertently discharged a round that traveled through the wall of the home and into the neighboring residence. The accused did not check on the neighbors until police were already on scene. The handgun was recovered from the suspect’s apartment.  Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Vincent Anthony WESTIN Jr., was charged.

Strangulation | Domestic Related – On November 4 at 9:45PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3400 block of Tuckahoe Ct in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly grabbed the victim by the throat restricting her breathing. The parties eventually separated and the police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Matthew Dylan MILLS, was arrested.

Sexual Battery – On November 2 at 12:44PM, officers began an investigation of an assault that occurred in the 3600 block of Chippendale Cir in Woodbridge (22193) on October 21. The victim, a 28-year-old woman, reported to police that the accused, an acquaintance, inappropriately touched her while she was sleeping. The victim told the accused to leave the home. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused. On November 4, the accused, identified as Jameer Raymond ROSS, was taken into custody without incident.

Malicious Wounding by Caustic Substance – On November 3 at 4:31PM, officers responded to the 2700 block of Potomac Mills Cir in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a disorderly. The victim, a 26-year-old man, reported to police that there was a dispute over a parking spot that escalated. During the encounter, a female passenger exited the other vehicle and approached the victim. When the victim put his window down to speak with her, she sprayed him in the face with pepper spray. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Danielle Ruth RUSS, was arrested.
