Dumfries home struck by lightning; two adults displaced

Two adults were at home when their single-family home located in the 17200 block of Four Seasons Drive in Dumfries caught fire after being struck by lightning on Monday, Aug. 15.

Fire and rescue crews were dispatched at 8:09 p.m., according to a report from Prince William County Fire & Rescue.8:09 p.m. Arriving crews observed smoke showing from the attic. Firefighters quickly advanced hose lines and extinguished the fire, according to Prince William County Fire and Rescue.

A Building Inspector was on scene and posted the home unsafe. According to the Fire Marshal’s Office, preliminary damages are estimated at $75,000.

No injuries were reported, but the two adults, who were home at the time of the fire, were displaced.

The house was of frame construction and built in 2004, according to fire officials.
