Drinking water from PWCSA is safe; emergency plan in place

Prince William County Service Authority is closely monitoring the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and taking all necessary measures to ensure the continued delivery of clean drinking water and the treatment of wastewater for its customers in Prince William County, a news release said.

The drinking water the PWC Service Authority provides is safe from COVID-19. The Service Authority’s drinking water suppliers, Fairfax Water and the City of Manassas, use multiple barriers in their water treatment processes that protect against COVID-19. Further, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), the virus has not been detected in drinking water.

As always, the Service Authority has emergency operations plans in place to ensure that its workforce maintains water and wastewater services while also supporting the health and safety of the utility’s customers and employees.

The Service Authority continues to provide uninterrupted service, in the field and at its administrative facilities. With CDC guidance to practice/observe social distancing to help reduce the spread of COVID-19, the Service Authority encourages customers to conduct business transactions using its online resources (available 24 hours a day) or by contacting the utility via phone or email rather than in-person at its facilities. Finally, the Service Authority is assisting its customers by suspending service disconnects until further notice.
