Dog walk ends in death; suspect charged with animal cruelty

Animal Cruelty – On September 13, Prince William County police officers concluded an investigation into an animal cruelty incident that was reported to have occurred in the area of Etherington Ct. and Chaddsford Ter. in Manassas (20112) on September 10.

The investigation revealed the accused was walking her 8-year-old Bichon Frise/Shih Tzu when officers observed the dog on its side being dragged by the accused while on the leash.

The dog appeared overheated and was not breathing normally. Officers attempted to render aid while Animal Control Officers responded to the scene. Animal Control Officers transported the dog to a local animal hospital where it later died.

Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Stephanie Denise HILLMON, was arrested without incident.
