On Saturday, April 27, at 8:15 a.m., fire and rescue units responded to a reported structure fire in the 9800 block of Nimitz Court in Manassas. First-arriving units encountered heavy fire conditions in the rear of a two-story single-family dwelling, according to a report from Prince William County Fire & Rescue.
An official said that fire extended from the rear deck into the first and second floor living areas and into the attic. Two adults and one child safely evacuated prior to the fire department’s arrival. No residents, fire and rescue personnel were injured during the incident. Smoke alarms did alert once smoke migrated into the dwelling.
The Red Cross responded to assist two adults and two children who were displaced. The preliminary fire loss estimate is $240,000. The County Police assisted with scene management and interviews. The cause of the fire is under investigation by fire investigators from the Fire Marshal’s Office.
