County police investigate shooting, burglary, sexual assault and abuse allegations

**INCIDENTS**

Malicious Wounding – On March 23rd at 1:06AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3600 block of Stewart Ln in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a shooting. The victim, a 17 year old male of Tappahannock, reported to police that he was confronted by a group of men at his residence. During the encounter, one of the men shot the victim in the leg. This incident escalated following an ongoing dispute between two groups. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Following the investigation, detectives identified the shooter as the accused and obtained warrants.

Aboubaker Siriki BAMBA, 18, of 3906 Oakdale Cir in Triangle
Described as a black male, 5’10”, 180lbs, with black hair and brown eyes
Wanted for malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony

Commercial Burglary – On March 23rd at 8:30AM, officers responded to the Montclair Country Club located at 16500 Edgewood Dr in Dumfries (22025) to investigate a burglary. Employees reported to police that the burglary occurred between 7:30PM on March 22nd and 8:30AM on March 23rd. Entry appeared to have been made into Pro-Shop on the property through the front door which was forced open. No property was reported missing. Damage to the door and a vending machine was estimated around $650.

**ARRESTS**

Aggravated Sexual Battery | Rape – On March 17th, detectives from the Special Victims Unit began an investigation into a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence in the 9500 block of Lomond Dr in Manassas (20109). The investigation revealed that the victims, an 18 year old woman and a 14 year old female, were sexually assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, on more than one occasion over the past few years. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested on March 21st.

Carlos Alberto MENDOZA QUINTANILL, 40, of the 9500 block of Lomond Dr in Manassas
Charged with 2 counts of aggravated sexual battery, 1 count of rape, and 1 count of carnal knowledge

Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor | Assault & Battery – On February 26th, detectives from the Physical Abuse Unit began a joint investigation with Child Protective Services in reference to abuse allegations being reported at the S.M.I.L.E. Day Care located at 7171 New Market Ct in Manassas (20109). The allegations were received anonymously and reported that the daycare’s director, identified as the accused, was physically abusing children in her care. The investigation revealed that in February of 2014, the accused assaulted two children, a 6 year old boy and a 5 year old girl, while they were both in her care at the facility. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested on March 21st.

Arousha SHAHIN, 39, of 5260 Jacobs Creek Pl in Haymarket
Charged with 2 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor and 2 counts of assault & battery

Residential Burglary – On March 22nd at 11:46PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13500 block of Photo Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary in progress. The homeowner reported to police that he and a friend were inside his residence when they heard the front door open and an unknown man enter. The homeowner confronted the man which led to a minor altercation. The homeowner and friend were able to detain the man until police arrived. Officers identified the man as the accused and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. No damage was reported and no property was missing.

Andrew Jared WHITTAKER, 30, of 5711 Ridgedale Dr in Woodbridge
Charged with burglary and intoxication in public
