County Police investigate bomb threat at courthouse

**INCIDENTS**

Suspicious Death – On January 12 at 12:40PM, officers responded to the 1500 block of Cherry Hill Rd in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a death. The caller reported to police that while walking in the above area, a man’s body was observed along the shoreline of the Potomac River. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives from the Homicide Unit are investigating the death as suspicious. The body was transported to the Medical Examiner’s Office for further examination and autopsy. The victim’s identification will be released once confirmed and a next of kin has been notified. The investigation continues.

Threat to Bomb – On January 12 at 9:30AM, officers responded to the Prince William County Courthouse located at 9311 Lee Ave in Manassas (20110) for a bomb threat. The investigation revealed that an unknown male caller reported that there was a bomb in the courthouse. After a search of the property and surrounding area with the assistance of two police K-9 units, officers determined that the threat was not credible. During the investigation, detectives from the Intel Unit identified the caller as the accused and obtained a warrant for his arrest.

Commercial Burglary –- On January 12 at 8:00AM, officers responded to the Daltile Sales Service Center located at 11850 Livingston Rd in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary. An employee reported to police that the business was burglarized at approximately 1:50AM that morning. The investigation revealed that an unknown person entered the business through a garage door which was forced open. Once inside, the suspect took power tools and a safe before leaving a short time later.  There is no suspect description available at this time. The investigation continues.

Residential Burglary – On January 10 at 12:30AM, officers responded to a residence located at the 6300 block of Oakland Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred on January 9 sometime between 1:30PM and 10:00PM. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry into the residence. Entry is believed to have been made into the home through an unlocked rear door. A gaming console was reported missing.

**ARRESTS**

Residential Burglary | Attempted Abduction | Domestic Assault & Battery – On January 13 at 1:00AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to an apartment located in the 1900 block of Briar Rose Ln in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a domestic. As officers arrived, they observed the victim, a 26-year-old woman of Woodbridge, being assaulted by the accused, an acquaintance, outside of the apartment. The accused was quickly detained without incident. The investigation revealed that the accused forced his way into the victim’s apartment.  Once inside, the accused took the victim’s phone as she was speaking with police dispatch. When the victim attempted to leave the apartment, the accused grabbed her arm and attempted to close the door. The victim was eventually able to get outside the apartment as officers were arriving. Minor injuries were reported. The officers also determined that the accused was intoxicated. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Charged with burglary, attempted abduction, domestic assault & battery, preventing the summoning of law enforcement, and public intoxication

Attempted Malicious Wounding | Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On January 11 at 8:00PM, officers responded to the 3500 block of Germainia Ct in Triangle (22172) to investigate a shots fired call. When officers arrived, they made contact with the victim, a 37-year-old man of Triangle, outside of the residence. The victim told officers that he was involved in a verbal altercation inside the residence with the accused, an acquaintance, which escalated. During the encounter, the accused brandished a handgun and shot at the victim missing him. The victim was able to flee the residence and contacted police. As officers were speaking with the victim, the accused exited the residence and was detained without incident. A handgun was recovered from the residence.  Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

David Anthony BAAH, 24, of the 3500 block of Germainia Ct in Triangle
Charged with attempted malicious wounding, reckless handling of a firearm, brandishing a firearm, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and discharging a firearm within a dwelling
Court Date: February 13, 2017 | Bond: Held WITHOUT bond

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On January 12 at 11:00PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 13000 block of Hargett Way in Woodbridge (22193) for a warrant service. When officers attempted to take the accused into custody, he punched an officer in the face and a struggle ensued. Officers eventually deployed a TASER and the accused was detained without further incident. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Andrew R BROOKINS, 25, of 13012 Hargett Way in Woodbridge
Charged with assault & battery on a LEO and resisting arrest

Assault & Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On January 12 at 12:30AM, officers responded to the Walmart located at 14000 Worth Ave in Woodbridge (22193) for a disorderly person. When officers arrived, they made contact with a woman, identified as the accused, who was yelling at a store employees. When the accused was told to leave the business by a store employee and officers, she refused. When officers attempted to detain the accused, she resisted and, at one point, spit on an officer’s face. The accused was eventually detained without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Evelyn Mae DUKU, 40, of 14001 Big Crest Ln in Woodbridge
Charged with assault & battery on a LEO, resisting arrest, and trespassing
Court Date: February 23, 2017 | Bond: Held WITHOUT bond
