Construction flagger killed in accident on Davis Ford Road

Fatal Crash Investigation – On March 24 at 12:19PM, investigators from the Prince William County VA Police Department’s Crash Investigation Unit responded to the 6600 block of Davis Ford Rd in Manassas (20111) to investigate a vehicle crash involving a pedestrian, according to Officer Nathan Probus, spokesman for Prince William County Police Department.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2013 Ford Fusion was traveling southbound on Davis Ford Rd approaching a mobile work zone in the above area. As the driver neared the work zone, he failed to stop for the flagger and subsequently struck him, according to the police report.

The force of the collision pushed the flagger into the northbound lane where he was inadvertently struck by the driver of a 2014 Mercedes C250.

The flagger was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both drivers of the striking vehicles were not injured and remained at the scene of the crash.

The flagger was dressed in a florescent green vest and pants holding a stop sign mounted on a metal pole.
Speed, alcohol and drugs do not appear to be factors in this crash. Charges are pending for the driver of the Ford Fusion. The investigation continues.

The pedestrian was identified as Gary Mason LEE, 25, of Hampton

The driver of the 2013 Ford Fusion was identified as a 55 year old man of Linden
