Connolly says EPA’s “dirty water giveway” will have consequences for Virginians

Congressman Gerry Connolly (D-VA), co-chair of the House Green Dogs and representative of part of Prince William County, released the following statement on EPA Administrator Pruitt’s decision to roll back the Waters of the U.S. safeguards:

“Administrator Pruitt has once again substituted his political ideology over overwhelming scientific evidence and years of stakeholder collaboration and compromise. This dirty water giveaway will have real consequences. 117 million Americans rely on these environmental safeguards for safe drinking water. 28,000 miles of Virginia’s streams and millions of acres of wetlands now will be vulnerable to pollution. Rather than dismantle the agency, Mr. Pruitt should recommit to its core mission: protecting our communities.”
