STATEMENT: Wittman on National Police Week


Today, Congressman Rob Wittman (VA-01) released the following statement in honor of National Police Week:

“This week, our nation honors our men and women in law enforcement through National Police Week. We can never quite do enough to fully thank and show our appreciation for our law enforcement officers as they dedicate their lives to selflessly serving our communities.

“In uncertain times such as these, we need heroes like them now more than ever. And yet, we still face calls from many on the left to “defund the police.”  Defunding the police is not an option. With violent crime on the rise, our law enforcement officers need the tools, resources, and training necessary to keep our children, schools, and communities safe. 

“The service and sacrifices of our law enforcement officers often goes unnoticed and underappreciated. This week, we should all take a moment to appreciate everything they do for our communities.  As always, I am proud to have law enforcement’s back just as they have ours.”
