Congress member-elect Barbara Comstock appointed to third key committee

Congress member-Elect Barbara Comstock was named to the U.S. House Committee on House Administration today, Monday, Dec. 15, 2014.

This is in addition to her appointments to the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the Science, Space, and Technology Committee that were announced last week.

According to a news release, “One of the chief tasks of the Committee on House Administration is the oversight of federal elections. The committee has a hand in shaping legislation that touches on any and all aspects of federal elections.  The committee also exerts great influence on the internal procedures and priorities of the daily operations of The House of Representatives.  The House Administration Committee has oversight responsibilities for the Library of Congress, the House Library, the Botanic Gardens, and the Smithsonian Institution.”

“I look forward to working with my friend Chairwoman Candice Miller (R-MI) in overseeing the daily functions of the People’s House,” Comstock was quoted as saying. “Working on behalf of my constituents will be my number one priority in Congress, and being on three influential committees will only help Virginia’s 10th District as we head into the new Congress.”

Comstock will be sworn in on January 6th as the next representative for Virginia’s 10th Congressional District.  She is replacing Frank Wolf who retired.
