Committee to debate license plate controversy Nov. 20

On Thursday, November 20, 7-9pm, the PW Committee of 100 will host a dinner and panel discussion on law enforcement use of license plate readers (LPRs) to gather information on personal vehicles, which raises privacy concerns by the public.

The event will be at the Wyndham Garden Manassas, 10800 Vandor Lane, Manassas, VA. Attendees have two options.

Option #1 is to attend dinner at 7pm at a cost of $30 (please RSVP NLT noon on Monday, November 17, at http://www.pwc100.org/home/november-forum), followed by the panel discussion.

Option #2 is to arrive at 7:45pm after dinner and attend only the panel discussion at no cost (no RSVP required).

During the 2015 legislative session of the General Assembly, Del, Richard Anderson will carry a bill to establish a statewide rule set for the collection and retention of license plate data by law enforcement jurisdictions across Virginia.

Residents’ participation and input will be an important part of the rules that Anderson will propose to the General Assembly, Anderson said.
