Attempted Fraud
At approximately 3:20PM on February 26, 2015, Manassas City Police met with a resident for a report of a suspicious event. The reporting party told officers that someone had called her elderly mother and asked her for money. The unknown caller told the mother that she had not paid her electric bill, and if she did not send him money her power was going to be cut off. The resident did not comply.
Note: The City of Manassas is the sole provider of utilities in the City of Manassas (20110), and will not call customers demanding money. Utility bills may only be paid at the Department of Public Works (located at 8500 Public Works Dr).
Theft from Motor Vehicle
On February 26, 2015, Manassas City Police met with a resident on the 8400 block of Stonewall Rd for a report of a larceny. The reporting party told officers that sometime between 12:00AM on February 1st and 1:30PM on February 26th, someone stole several items from the bed of his pickup truck by breaking the padlock on the camper door. The truck had been parked on the street in front of the victim’s residence for approximately three weeks without being moved. Stolen items, which included an air compressor, drills, a circular saw, and nail guns, were valued at $1,360.
