Attempted Malicious Wounding and Grand Larceny - Prince William County Police officers responded to the 16800 block of Jefferson Davis Hwy. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate an attempted vehicle theft on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 12:13AM, according to Officer Adam Beard, police department representative.
Officer Beard said the investigation revealed that the male victim, 42, left his vehicle running while inside a nearby business. While the victim was inside the business, the accused, identified as a male juvenile,14, attempted to steal the vehicle and was eventually confronted by the victim.
During the encounter, a physical struggle escalated when the accused brandished a knife and attempted to cut the victim. The parties eventually separated, and the police were contacted. No injuries were reported. The accused was located nearby and taken into custody without incident.
