This week, as part of ongoing County and VDOT projects, there will be some new road closures in the Gainesville District, according to the office of Gainesville District Supervisor Pete Candland.
Logmill Road Project
On September 28, 2015, Logmill road was closed to through traffic from just west of Parnell Court to approximately 2425 Logmill Road for Phase One of the Logmill Road Reconstruction Project. On March 11, 2016, Phase Two will begin and Logmill Road will be closed from just west of Meander Creek Lane to just east of Parnell Court until June 2016, weather permitting.
I-66 Widening Project
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) will be closing all lanes of I-66 in one direction several nights this week at the Catharpin Road overpass between Route 15 and Route 29 in Gainesville so that crews can place beams for the new Catharpin overpass. The overpass is being reconstructed as part of VDOT’s I-66 Widening Project.
Single-lane closure on westbound I-66 will begin around 9 PM tonight, March 7 and tomorrow March 8. Eastbound I-66 closures will begin around 8 PM on March 9 and March 10. The intermittent total closure will last for up to 20 minutes and will begin around midnight tonight March 7-10.. One lane will reopen after each total closure. All lanes will reopen by 5 AM.
Travelers should expect delays and are advised to use alternate routes.
