The University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg will host a debate for the candidates in the 1st Congressional District of Virginia race on Monday, Oct. 29 at 7:30 p.m. in George Washington Hall’s Dodd Auditorium. Part of Prince William County is in the 1st Congressional District.
Featured will be Democratic candidate Adam Cook, Independent candidate Gail Parker and Republican incumbent Rep. Rob Wittman, who is seeking his third full term in the U.S. House of Representatives.
Moderator will be Stephen Farnsworth, professor of political science and the director of the Center for Leadership and Media Studies at UMW. Local journalists will be panelists.
The debate is co-sponsored by UMW’s Legislative Action Committee, UMW’s chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce and The Free Lance-Star. newspaper in Fredericksburg.
