Burglary, abduction, gang participation, felony child neglect charged in cases over the weekend

Arrests released by Prince William County VA Police Department on Monday, May 23, 2016

**ARRESTS**
Burglary | Abduction –
On May 20 at 2:12PM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 7400 block of Willoughby Ln in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary in progress. When officers arrived, they made contact with the accused and detained him without incident. Further investigation revealed that the victim, a 34 year old woman of Manassas, went to the residence of the accused, an acquaintance, around 1:00AM that morning. During the encounter, the victim and accused were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. At some point, the accused grabbed the victim and prevented her from leaving the residence. After several hours, the accused drove the victim back to her apartment where she was able to get away from the accused and lock the door. The accused then entered her residence without permission by breaking a rear window. Once inside, the accused refused to leave until officers arrived. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Luis Fernando SANDOVAL SANCHEZ, 22, of No Fixed Address
Charged with burglary, abduction, assault & battery, and destruction of property

Malicious Wounding | Gang Participation – On May 21 at 4:26PM, officers responded to the Walmart located at 8386 Sudley Rd in Manassas (20109) to investigate subjects fighting in the area. Officers located the victim, a 17 year old male juvenile of Manassas, who reported to police that he was walking in the area above when he was confronted by two individuals. During the encounter, one of the men, identified as Jason ALFARO, struck the victim in the head causing a severe laceration. The parties eventually separated and ALFARO fled the area prior to officers arriving. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. Following the investigation, officers determined that the incident was gang related and warrants were obtained for the arrest of the accused. On May 22, ALFARO was located and arrested without incident at his residence in Manassas.

Felony Child Neglect – On May 22 at 2:33PM, officers responded to the 16500 block of Bobster Ct in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a child neglect call. The caller reported to police that around 1:52PM she observed a child, later identified as a 2 year old boy, walking outside alone in the rain wearing only a diaper. After being unable to locate the child’s family, the caller contacted police. Around 2:45PM, a family member was located looking for the child. Further investigation revealed that the accused left the child unattended. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. The child was released to the custody of a family member.

Gloria Jean BRIGGS, 19, of the 16500 block of Bobster Ct in Woodbridge
Charged with felony child neglect
Court Date: Pending | Bond: Released on a $2,000 Unsecured Bond

Felony Child Neglect – On May 22 at 4:00AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 3400 block of Belfry Ln in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a child neglect call. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 12 year old male juvenile, and the accused, identified as a family member, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused attempted to assault the victim. At some point, the victim jumped out a second story window then made contact with a citizen who contacted police. When officers arrived at the residence, they made contact with the accused who was intoxicated. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested. The victim was released to the custody of a family member.

Charged with felony child neglect

Unlawful Injury by a Caustic Substance – On May 20 at 9:56PM, officers responded to the 17300 block of Dumfries Rd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 41 year old man of Philadelphia, reported to police that he and the accused, identified as a family member, were involved in a physical altercation. During the encounter, the accused grabbed a bottle of mace and sprayed the victim in the face. The parties eventually separated and police were contacted. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Karen BOUIE, 40, of 2023 Ripley St in Philadelphia, PA
Charged with unlawful injury by caustic substance and domestic assault & battery
Court Date: Pending | Bond: Held WITHOUT Bond
