Building official posts Lucasville Road house as unsafe after March 12 fire

On Wednesday, March 12th at approximately 5:15 p.m., Prince William County fire and rescue units were dispatched to a structure fire in a single family home located in the 12000 block of Lucasville Rd. in Bristow. A Prince William County Building Official posted the residence as unsafe following the fire.

Upon arrival, fire and rescue units located a fire in the basement of the home. Firefighting operations required the use of mobile water tankers to transport water because there are no fire hydrants in the area, according to a report from the fire & rescue service.

One of the two residents was home at the time of the fire and was out of the house upon arrival of fire and rescue units; no injuries were reported. The displaced family declined Red Cross services, according to a news release.

The fire originated in the wall, near the wood stove pipe, and extended to the first floor.  A preliminary investigation conducted by the Fire Marshal’s Office determined the fire was accidental, the news release said.
