Building development fees in county to jump July 1

Prince William Board of County Supervisors approved an increased FY17 Building Development Fee Schedule in conjunction with the FY17 Budget Adoption, according to a news release from the Development Administration Office.

The FY17 Building Development Fee Schedule includes:

• A 2.4% across-the-board fee increase with the exception of the Amusement Device Fees, the Non-Residential Plan Review Filing Fee, and Surcharges.

• An additional provision that states: “Based on the Board of County Supervisors adoption of revisions to the Building Development Fee Schedule, the Building Development fees are subject to change.  The fee amount charged will be based on the approved Building Development Fee Schedule in effect on the date of permit issuance.”

Based on the above changes, if the Building Development Division provides a calculation of the estimated Plan Submission Filing Fee or the Permit Fees on or before June 30, 2016, those fees are subject to a 2.4% increase on/after July 1, 2016.
