Incidents and arrests released by Prince William County VA Police Department on Monday, April 18, 2016
**INCIDENTS**
Aggravated Malicious Wounding | Shooting Investigation – On April 17 at 7:27PM, officers responded to the 4900 block of Kirwyn Ct in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shooting call. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 12 year old male juvenile of Woodbridge, was playing in the above area with several friends when he was involved in a verbal altercation with an acquaintance which escalated. During the encounter, a large fight broke out between the two parties. At some point, a suspect riding inside a SUV fired several rounds into the crowd striking the victim in the arm and lower body. The vehicle then fled the area prior to police arriving. The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious, non-life threatening injuries. Detectives have determined that this shooting was not random. The investigation continues.
Residential Burglary – On April 14 at 1:40PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15500 block of Chicacoan Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a burglary. The homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 11:00AM and 1:30PM. The investigation revealed that entry was made into the residence through a rear basement door which was found damaged. Jewelry and money were reported missing.
Attempted Residential Burglary – On April 15 at 6:54PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 4500 block of Knoll Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an attempted burglary. The homeowner reported to police that sometime between 4:00AM on April 11 and 5:00PM on April 15, entry was attempted into the home through the front door which was found damaged. No entry was made and no property was reported missing.
**ARRESTS**
Strangulation | Domestic Assault & Battery – On April 15 at 10:37AM, officers responded to an apartment located in the 10800 block of Gambrill Dr in Manassas (20109) to investigate a domestic assault. The victim, a 35 year old woman of Manassas, reported to police that she and the accused, an acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation which escalated. During the encounter, the accused followed the victim to her car as she attempted to leave then grabbed her by the neck and began to choke her. The parties eventually separated and the victim left the area. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested without incident.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On April 17 at 2:58PM, officers responded to the 14100 block of Bay Vista Dr in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. A caller reported to police hearing an argument between unknown parties in the above area when a gunshot was heard. When officers arrived to check the area, they located a shell casing in a parking lot. Upon further investigation, officers determined that the accused was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown driver of a vehicle that followed him back to his residence. At some point, the accused retrieved a shotgun from his apartment and fired one round into the air. No injuries or property damage were reported. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.
