On July 18, 2011, reenactors at Blackburn’s Ford remembered the 34 men who gave their lives for their causes—Union and Confederate.
The Battle of Blackburn’s Ford was remembered Monday morning by tourists, Manassas natives, historians and reenactors, according to Angie Trbovich, who attended.
Color guard members, along with Bull Run Civil War Round Table, led by Mark Trbovich, president, lay a wreath in honor of the fallen soldiers. Member John McAnaw provided a brief history of the site. Grace Karish, a descendent of a soldiers, read the names of the dead. The ceremony concluded with a “Taps,” by bugler David Shuma.
Blackburn’s Ford is on the Bull Run River, at the boundary of Prince William and Fairfax counties along U.S. 28.
