Things really get rolling around 6 p.m. each Wednesday at Haymarket Bicycles. That’s when the shop on Costello Way closes and co-owner Jared Nieters and a varying number of other bicycle enthusiasts head off on a 24-mile loop. for the full story.
Camaraderie and the love of bicycling have kept this weekly ritual going for about five years.
“We call it the Haymarket Bicycles’ Group Ride or the Wednesdaynighter,” Nieters said. “We follow the same route – Antioch to Waterfall [Road] to The Plains. We do a loop of 24 miles. We ride in all kinds of weather. Some of us go all winter. We use lights” when needed, he said. The riders switch to bigger tires to ride in snow.
