Bear sightings? Remove food sources: pet foods, garbage cans, bird feeders, etc.

Amid continued reports of bears in the area of Tyler Elementary School and PACE West School, the School Community Information Office is reissuing the information provided by Prince William County Police:

“Due to the increase in bear sightings reported to police, we would like to provide the following safety tips…
Homeowners and businesses should remove food sources. Common attractions include bird feeders, pet food, grills and trash containers. We do not want the bears to become accustomed to people. Once that happens, the bear must be destroyed.”
