Arrest made in sexual assault cases from 2009 to 2014

**INCIDENTS**

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On August 25th at 9:30PM, officers responded to the area of Birchdale Ave and Dale Blvd in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a shots fired call. The victim, a 38 year old man of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was sitting in his parked vehicle near the basketball courts when he observed an altercation between two groups of unknown men. During the encounter, the victim heard gunshots followed by a bullet striking the trunk of this vehicle. No injuries were reported. Following the incident, the victim returned to his residence on Eagle Ridge Dr where he contacted police. Both groups dispersed prior to officers arriving in the area.  A shell casing was located in the roadway on Birchdale Ave. No other property damage was reported. The victim was unable to describe any of the men. This incident is not believed to be related to the shooting investigation reported at the McDonald’s on Dale Blvd.

**ARRESTS**

Rape – On August 21st, detectives from the Special Victims Unit responded to investigate a sexual assault which was reported to have occurred at a residence located in the 13400 block of Keystone Rd in Woodbridge (22193) between 2009 and 2014. The investigation revealed that the victim, a 20 year old woman of Arlington, was sexually assaulted by the accused, a known acquaintance, on more than one occasion between the timeframe above. Following the investigation, the accused was arrested.

Nilton Alexander MENSES, 41, of 13479 Keystone Rd in Woodbridge
Charged with 2 counts of rape
