Arrest made in 2017 burglary at children’s center; life-threatening shooting reported in Manassas

**UPDATES**

Commercial Burglary *ARREST – On January 23, detectives with the Property Crimes Unit charged the suspect involved in a burglary to the Winwood Children’s Center located at 7830 Old Linton Hall Rd in Gainesville on October 5, 2017. The investigation also revealed that the suspect used a stolen credit card from the Children’s Center at a business in Prince William County after the burglary. Following the investigation, detectives obtained warrants for the accused. The accused was already in custody at the Adult Detention Center on unrelated charges. The investigation continues.

Charged with 1 count of burglary, 1 count of grand larceny, 1 count of larceny with intent to sell, 1 count of credit card theft, 2 counts of credit card forgery, 1 count of credit card fraud, and 1 count of trespass into a vehicle

Commercial Burglary [Previously Released] – On October 5 at 6:00AM, officers responded to the Winwood Children’s Center located at 7830 Old Linton Hall Rd in Gainesville (22125) to investigate a burglary. Day care staff reported to police that sometime between 1:30AM and 5:45AM, entry was made into the building through a window which was found open. The unknown suspect(s) rummaged through the building and three busses parked outside. Several iPads, cell phones, and bus keys along with a computer laptop, business credit card, and a nebulizer machine were reported missing.

**INCIDENTS**

Shooting Investigation – On January 23 at 7:02PM, officers responded to the Maplewood Park Apartments located in the 8100 block of Peakwood Ct in Manassas (20111) to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they located an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds to the lower body. Officers provided immediate first-aid to the victim before rescue crews arrived on scene.  The victim, identified as a 28-year-old man, was flown to an area hospital with life threatening injuries. The initial investigation revealed that the victim was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown suspect. During the encounter, the victim was shot. After the shooting, the suspect fled the area. A police K-9 searched the area for the suspect who was not located. At this point, this incident does not appear to be random. The investigation continues.

Abduction | Assault & Battery – On January 23 at 10:02PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 5100 block of Lake Terrapin Dr in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a domestic. The victim, a 57-year-old woman, reported to police that she and the accused, a family member, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused grabbed the victim and held her down on a couch. The parties eventually separated and the police were contacted. The accused fled the area prior to officers arriving. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained warrants for the arrest of the accused, identified as Victor FUENTES.

Residential Burglary – On January 23 at 8:33AM, officers responded to a residence located in the 7900 block of Apache Ridge Ct in Manassas (20109) to investigate a burglary. A resident of the home reported to police that the burglary occurred sometime between 12:00PM on January 8 and 500PM on January 20. The investigation revealed that there were no signs of forced entry. A wallet, money, jewelry, several cell phones, camera, and photography equipment were reported missing.
