Adult and juvenile charged with assault by mob and gang participation

Aggravated Malicious Wounding – On September 4 at 2:36AM, officers responded to La Isla located at 8699 Parkland St in Manassas (20111) to investigate a stabbing.

The victim, a 19-year-old man of Silver Spring MD, reported to police that he and the accused, a 17-year-old male juvenile, were involved in a physical fight in the parking lot of the above business. A second suspect, identified as Moises SORTO-IRAETA, also joined in the altercation.

During the encounter, the juvenile suspect pulled out a pocket knife and slashed and stabbed the victim multiple times to the upper body. The SORTO-IRAETA suspect then pushed the victim to the ground where he was further assaulted. The suspects fled the area after the assault.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment. The SORTO-IRAETA was located at his address nearby and detained without incident.

The juvenile suspect was eventually identified and located at his residence. Both suspects are gang members and were known to the victim. Following the investigation, detectives from the Gang Unit arrested the suspects in connection to the assault.
