Accolades for partnership in PWC that helps diverse people find jobs

PWCS Office of Adult Education, along with partners at the SkillSource Center and the Virginia Employment Commission, were recently honored for excellence in the field of equal opportunity and services to clients by the National Association of State Workforce Agencies. The “One-Stop Partnership” as the partners are called, received the William J. Harris Equal Opportunity Award.

The Partnership is being hailed as a model for workforce agencies around the country.

The PWCS Office of Adult Education contributes to the SkillSource Center’s goals by offering English classes and GED courses that complement the job readiness programs and community services available at the center.

By bringing GED and English Language services on site, the SkillSource Center has evolved into a one-stop-shop that delivers valuable community services for those who are looking to join or rejoin the work force. Many of the clients require services or information in languages other than English. Translation services are available to clients in over 100 languages.

The PWCS recipients of the award are Donna Motsek – Coordinator, Office of Adult Education; Debra Cargill – ELA, Lead Teacher; Tanya Conover – Prince William County Liaison, Skills Source Center Group; and David Brown – ELA Instructor, Employment Transition Coach.

The Prince William SkillSource Center is located at 13370 Minnieville Road, Woodbridge 22192.
