A gun-crazy weekend in Prince William County: seven incidents reported

Shooting into an Unoccupied Vehicle – On Friday, Jan. 22 at 12:37PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to investigate a destruction of property that was reported to have occurred in the area of Williamstown Dr. and Old Triangle Rd. in Dumfries (22026) sometime between 4:00PM and 6:00PM on Jan. 19. The vehicle owner reported to police that his vehicle was struck by gunshots while parked and unoccupied in the above area. The investigation revealed that more than one round entered the unoccupied vehicle. No additional property damage was reported.

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On Friday, Jan. 22 at 9:45PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 16600 block of Geddy Ct. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call.

The homeowner reported to police that while inside his home, he heard several gunshots. Shortly after, he observed damage to his rear glass door and contacted the police. Residents reported to police that gunshots were heard in the above area before a vehicle sped off.

The investigation revealed that two rounds entered the home through the glass door and traveled through the home before one bullet lodged in the window frame and the other lodged in a wall. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.

Reckless Handling of a Firearm – On Saturday, Jan. 23 at 5:39AM, officers responded to the Bayvue Apartments located in the 1200 block of Bayside Ave. in Woodbridge (22191) to investigate a shots fired call. An apartment employee reported to police that multiple gunshots were heard in the above area before an unknown group of men were observed walking away. While canvassing, officers located several shell casings in the grass in front of one of the apartment buildings. No injuries or property damage were reported.

Shooting Investigation – On Saturday, Jan. 23 at 9:25PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the Babylon Café at 3081 Golansky Blvd. in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call.

While responding, officers located the victim, a 27-year-old man, a short distance from the Café suffering from gunshot wounds. Officers utilized their Department-issued trauma kits to provide first aid to the man until rescue personnel arrived. The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation revealed that the victim and an acquaintance, identified as the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation inside the Café. At some point during the altercation, the parties moved outside where the altercation escalated when the accused brandished a firearm. The accused fired several rounds striking the victim before fleeing the area in a dark colored vehicle. The victim also ran from the area until located by the police. Shell casings were located in the parking lot and collected by officers.

The next morning, officers responded to the 3100 block of Golansky Blvd. for a report of two business which sustained damage believed to be from the prior night’s shooting. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as James Lawrence GREGORY Jr. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful.

Wanted:
James Lawrence GREGORY Jr., 34, of the 3100 block of Chesapeake Dr. in Dumfries
Described as a black male, 6’4”, 300lbs., with long black dread locks and brown eyes
Wanted for aggravated malicious wounding, use of a firearm in commission of a felony, discharging a firearm in public, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and destruction of property.

Shooting into a Residential Dwelling – On Sunday, Jan. 24 at 3:52AM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the County Center Crossing Apartments located in the 13100 block of Tazanari Way in Woodbridge (22192) to investigate a shots fired call. Residents reported to police that gunshots were heard in the above area before a light-colored vehicle sped off.

While investigating, officers were informed that one of the apartments was struck by multiple rounds causing the apartment to sustain water damage. While canvassing, officers located shell casings on the roadway. Later that morning, officers were notified of a residence in the 13400 block of Orangewood Dr. and two unoccupied vehicles parked in front of the home that sustained damaged from projectiles. No injuries or additional property damage were reported.

Aggravated Malicious Wounding – On Sunday, Jan. 24 at 10:50PM, officers responded to the El Establo Bar and Grill located at 7911 Centreville Rd. in Manassas (20111) to investigate a shooting. The investigation revealed that the victim, identified as a 25-year-old man, and two unknown men were involved in a verbal altercation outside of the restaurant when one of the suspects retrieved a firearm and shot the victim. An acquaintance drove the victim to the hospital where the police were contacted. The victim sustained non-life threatening injuries. No additional injuries or property damage were reported. The investigation continues.

1. A black male wearing a black jacket with a black hooded sweatshirt underneath, dark colored jeans with holes, red/white Air One Jordan shoes and carrying a firearm
2. A black male with shoulder length braids wearing a black sweatshirt
