The Virginia Department of Education has given 17 Prince William County schools its 2012 Virginia Index of Performance Awards (VIP).
According to a PWCS news release, this is “an incentive program to recognize schools and school divisions that exceed minimum state and federal accountability standards.” Schools and school divisions must meet all state and federal achievement benchmarks for at least two consecutive years to achieve recognition in this highly competitive process, the news release said.
VIP Board of Education Excellence Awards went to these elementary schools: Antietam, Gravely, Lake Ridge, Marshall, Mountain View. Old Bridge, Pennington Traditional and Porter Traditional, Rockledge, Rosa Parks, Springwoods and Westridge.
VIP Competence to Excellence Awards went to these elementary schools: Dumfries, Kerrydale, Leesylvania, Nokesville and Signal Hill.
