12 Prince William County schools recognized with state awards

A total of 12 Prince William County schools are being honored as part of a Virginia incentive program to recognize schools and school divisions for advanced learning and achievement.

Honored schools exceed minimum state and federal accountability standards and achieve excellence goals established by the governor and the Board of Education, based on achievement and performance during the 2014-15 school year.

Four PWC schools that earned the Board of Education Excellence Award met all state and federal accountability benchmarks and made significant progress toward goals for student achievement and expanded education opportunities set by the board and governor.

Eight PWCS schools earned the Board of Education Distinguished Achievement Award, meeting all state and federal benchmarks and making progress toward the goals.
