See how concrete is made, learn to build a bridge and more at remote transpo career fair Oct. 7

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) participates in the Federal Highway Administration initiative to promote the transportation industry and the future careers it offers to America’s youth.  This week, staff from VDOT’s Northern Virginia District will be working to help foster the future transportation workforce via a virtual Transportation Career Fair Thursday, Oct. 7 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The career fair is an exciting and informative day for students to discover a variety of careers related to transportation. There are numerous hands-on opportunities for students, including trying out equipment, learning how to build a bridge and watching a demonstration on how concrete is made. It is also an exciting and rewarding event for exhibitors to enlighten students and spark their interest in the transportation industry.

The purpose of the career fair is to showcase the benefits of careers in transportation and inspire students to consider transportation-related fields while they make their future career goals and plans.

A major focus of the Career Fair is to provide various career pathways and professional networking opportunities to students after high school. About 50 engineering firms, organizations, agencies and contractors from across the Commonwealth will give hundreds of high school students the chance to network and learn about career, scholarship and internship opportunities in civil engineering, architecture, technology, construction, environmental, administration and other transportation-related fields.
