Uber driver reports 2 a.m. robbery at gunpoint in Dale City, hails off-duty police officer

Armed Robbery | Abduction – On April 28, 2020 at 2:51AM, Prince William County police officers responded to the intersection of Dale Blvd. and Benita Fitzgerald Dr. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 55-year-old man, was working as a driver for Uber when he was reportedly robbed by an unknown male passenger, according to MPO Renee Carr, police department representative.

Off. Carr reported that the investigation revealed, that the suspect entered the vehicle, where he brandished a firearm before forcing the victim to drive to an ATM where money was withdrawn. The suspect then forced the victim to continue to drive. As the victim was driving, he observed a marked police vehicle at the above intersection. The victim parked his car in front of the police vehicle, at which point, the suspect fled on foot.

The victim made contact with the officer, who was off-duty and reported the encounter. No injuries were reported.

A police K-9 and the Fairfax County police helicopter responded to search the area for the suspect who was not located. The investigation continues.

Suspect Description:
A black male, approximately 18 years old, 5’8”, 160lbs., with a medium build
Last seen wearing a black puffy-style jacket, black hooded sweatshirt, blue surgical mask, clear latex-style gloves and dark-colored pants
