Manassas City Police Beat 2/27/12

Shoplifting
Manassas City Police Officers were called to the 7-11 store, located at 9166 Mathis Avenue, regarding a shoplifting incident that occurred on February 24, 2012, at approximately 11:20 p.m.
The cashier told officers that a male entered the store and stole a can of beer. When confronted by the cashier, the offender threatened him with assault. The cashier said that the male comes in and steals beer on a regular basis. He was described as white, approximately 20-30 years old, wearing blue jeans, white jacket, a blue and white striped scarf and a grey cap. The cashier advised officers that he believes that the offender works in a nearby barber shop.
This investigation is ongoing.

Hit & Run
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a Hit & Run incident that occurred on February 20, 2012, at approximately 2:20 p.m.
The victim told officers that she was travelling South on Center Street when the driver of a white, two door pick-up truck, backed into her vehicle then left the area without exchanging information with her. The offending driver was described as a Hispanic male with a normal haircut. The victim’s vehicle, a 2007 Honda, sustained approximately $400.00 in damages.
This investigation is ongoing.

Hit & Run
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a Hit & Run incident that occurred on February 23, 2012, at approximately 8:00 a.m.
The victim told officers that she was travelling South on Center Street when the driver of a blue Cadillac pulled out into traffic without yielding to oncoming traffic, causing the victim to collide with it. The victim said that she then observed a black female and two black males running away from the car. The victim’s vehicle, a 1998 Ford, sustained approximately $3,000.00 in damages. The offending vehicle, a Cadillac four door, bearing Virginia license tag, XBY-2316, was towed by officers on scene.

Marijuana Citations
On February 19, 2012, at approximately 11:25 p.m., Manassas City Police Officers were patrolling the area of Taney Road and Maury Lane, when they smelled burnt marijuana coming from 9800 Maury Lane. The officers made contact with the residents, which led to the execution of a search warrant. Removed from the residence was marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia.
Francisco Holguin (age 24), Francisco Gallegos (age19), both of 9800 Maury Lane, were cited for Possession of Marijuana. Also cited was Maria Dolores Median Osequeda (age 22) of 9250 Bayberry Avenue. Their court dates were set for March 20, 2012. Francisco Holguin was also cited for Contributing to the Delinquency of a Juvenile.
Two 17 year olds that were found in the residence were also served with citations for Possession of Marijuana. One juvenile was turned over to a parent. The other juvenile was transported to the juvenile detention center, on an outstanding detention order.

Assault Arrest
Manassas City Police Investigators have made an arrest in an Aggravated Assault incident that occurred on November 24, 2011, in the 9600 block of Aspen Place.

On January 31, 2012, a Manassas City Police Investigator was interviewing Christopher Jared Tibbs, on an unrelated case, when Tibbs admitted to punching the victim one time and causing him to fall to the ground.
Christopher Jared Tibbs, of 9807 Buckner Road, was placed under arrest and charged with one count of Assault. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond. His court date was set for April 12, 2012.
This investigation is still ongoing.

Felonious Assault
On November 24, 2011 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Manassas City Police Officers were summoned to the 9600 block of Aspen Place regarding an assault.  Upon their arrival, they were advised that a group of males had beaten up another male and had left him on the ground semi-conscious and bleeding. The call was originally dispatched as a shooting because witnesses on scene had called police and told them that the victim had been shot. Further investigation revealed that one of the offenders, during the altercation, produced a handgun and fired multiple shots into the air but did not actually shoot the victim.
The male that fired the gun was described as black, heavy set, clean shaven, approximately 5’8”-5’10” tall. He was wearing a black jacket, dark colored t-shirt and a burgundy hat with white letters on the side.
The victim was flown out to Fairfax Hospital due to the severity of his wounds.
This is an ongoing investigation.

Marijuana Arrest
On February 24, 2012, at approximately 9:50 p.m., a Manassas City Police Officer was patrolling the 9700 block of Bragg Lane, when he observed Ryan Hogan standing in front of his residence. Knowing that Hogan was wanted on narcotics charges, the officer attempted to make contact with him but Hogan ran into the residence. Hogan was apprehended a short time later behind his residence. He was placed under arrest with no further incidents.
During a search of Hogan’s belongings, a small amount of marijuana was found in his pants pocket. He was cited for Possession of Marijuana. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, on a $2,000.00 bond, on the outstanding narcotics warrant. His court date was set for March 20, 2012.

Burglary Arrest
Manassas City Police Investigators have made an arrest in a Burglary case that occurred on January 17, 2012, in the 8500 block of Ballantrae Street.
Investigators followed up on leads that were supplied to them from the Prince William County Police Department and the Ann Arundel County Police Department, leading them to Brittanny Christina Honsinger, of 8935 Portner Avenue. Further investigation concluded with the arrest of Honsinger.
Brittanny Christina Honsinger was placed under arrest and charged with Grand Larceny and two charges of Breaking In and Entering With the Intent to Commit Larceny. She was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, on a $2,000.00 bond. Her court date was set for March 16, 2012.

Indecent Exposure Arrest
On February 20, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers were summoned to the 7-11 store, located at 9807 Cockrell Road, regarding a disorderly, intoxicated male.
The store clerk advised officers that a male had become disorderly inside the store after being denied access to the store’s restroom. The clerk said that the male, later identified as Josue Soto Zamora, of 7611 Quail Run Lane started yelling at the clerk and then pulled his trousers down and defecated inside the store, near the front entrance. Several minutes later, officers located Soto Zamora on Center Street. He was placed under arrest and charged with Public Intoxication, Disorderly Conduct and Indecent Exposure. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center until his he was no longer intoxicated. His court is unknown.

Vandalism Arrest
On February 21, 2012, Manassas City Police Officers responded to the 8900 block of McDowell Commons, regarding a domestic dispute. Upon their arrival, they were told that Latonya Nicole Snow, of 14705 Vint Hill Road, was having an argument with a family member when she threw a brick at the front window of the house, attempting to break it, with negative results. Latonya Nicole Snow was still on scene when officers arrived. She was placed under arrest and charged with Throwing a Missile at an Occupied Dwelling. She was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, on a $2,500.00 bond. Her court date was set for March 26, 2012.

Narcotics Arrest
On December 17, 2012, at approximately 12:05 a.m., a Manassas City Police Officer was patrolling the area of Taney Road near Pickett Lane, when she observed a tan colored Jeep Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) driving in the area, with defective equipment. A traffic stop was initiated, when further investigation revealed that the driver, Heather Elizabeth Smith, of 9108 Karlo Street, was in possession of several different bottles of pills that were not prescribed to her. A Manassas City K-9 Officer arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop when marijuana and heroin was also found inside the vehicle.
Smith was issued a citation for the defective equipment and was advised that the recovered pills would be sent to the lab for further analysis.
Paul Michael Magwood, of 9214 Prescott Avenue was cited with Possession of Marijuana. On February 14, 2012, he pled guilty to an amended charge of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Earl C. Magwood, of 9703 Bragg Lane, was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Heroin and Possession of Marijuana With Intent to Distribute. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, on a $10,000.00 bond. His next court date was set for March 13, 2012.
On December 24, 2011, Heather Smith was stopped again and items of suspicion were removed from her vehicle and sent to the lab for analysis.
On February 20, 2012, Prince William County Police Officers arrested Smith on outstanding warrants for Grand Larceny and Possession of Schedule I or II Narcotic. She was also served with Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Heroin warrants stemming back from the traffic stop that occurred on December 24, 2012. She was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, on a $7,500.00 bond. Her court date was set for March 15, 2012.
