Suspects charged with assault & battery on police officers

Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Jan. 21 at 10:30PM, officers responded to the Prince William-Manassas Regional Adult Detention Center (ADC) located at 9320 Lee Ave. Manassas (20110) to investigate a vandalism. The investigation revealed that an inmate of the facility, identified as the accused, damaged a light and a door within the facility. After the incident, the accused was detained and brought before the magistrate. During the encounter, the accused struck the officer. The accused was quickly detained by ADC staff without further incident. No injuries were reported. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Jamal Arris THOMPSON, was arrested.

Assault and Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer [LEO] – On Jan. 22 at 11:02PM, an officer was conducting speed enforcement in the 3600 block of Canal Rd. in Dumfries (22026) when he observed a vehicle strike the median before turning onto Canal Rd. and parking in a parking lot. The officer made contact with the driver of the vehicle, later identified as the accused, to check on his welfare. No injuries were reported. Upon further investigation, officers determined that the accused was intoxicated. When officers attempted to detain the accused, he actively resisted. During the encounter, the accused kicked the officer. After a brief struggle, the accused was taken into custody without further incident. During a search, suspected narcotics were located in his possession. Following the investigation, the accused, identified as Robert Anthony NELSON, was arrested.
