Attempted Strong-Arm Robbery
On July 30 at 6:30PM, Prince William County Police officers responded to the intersection of Jefferson Davis Hwy. and Dumfries Rd. in Dumfries (22026) to investigate a robbery. The victim, a 57-year-old man, reported to police that he and an acquaintance, identified the accused, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated, according to Off. Renee Carr, police department spokesman.
During the encounter, Off. Carr said the accused attempted to take money out of the victim’s pockets. When the victim resisted, the accused struck the victim in the upper body and a brief struggle ensued. Detectives in the area observed the altercation and, when they went to intervene, the accused fled the scene on foot.
The victim reported minor injuries. No items were taken from the victim. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Terrance Christopher MCCOY. Attempts to locate the accused have been unsuccessful, according to police reports.
