Arrest made in case of strangulated victim who briefly lost consciousness

Strangulation – On April 27 at 5:10 PM, officers responded to a residence located in the 15200 block of Cloverdale Rd. in Woodbridge (22193) to investigate an assault.  The investigation revealed the victim, a 20-year-old woman, was with an acquaintance, identified as the accused, at a home in the above area when they became involved in a verbal altercation as they left the residence.

While outside near the home, the altercation escalated resulting in the victim being strangled by the accused. The victim reported trying to walk away from the accused when he grabbed her arm and then grabbed her neck, causing her to lose consciousness briefly.

A witness who heard the altercation was able to separate the two parties. The police were eventually able to locate the victim and interview her. Minor injuries were reported. Following the investigation, officers obtained arrest warrants for the accused, identified as Danny Edward CACERAS.

On May 4, the accused was located and attempted to avoid arrest by providing officers with a false identity. The officers were able to confirm his identity and took the accused into custody without incident.
