Manassas City Police Beat 11/29/11

Felonious Assault
On Nov. 28, 2011, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Manassas City police officers responded to the 9300 block of Taney Road regarding a BB gun shooting.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they were advised by the victim that he was driving on Hampton Road when someone struck his vehicle with what he described as BBs.

The victim exited his vehicle to inspect the damages when several subjects began taunting him. He left the area but was soon confronted by the same subjects several blocks away. The victim told officers that it was at this time that two of the offenders, both juveniles, opened fire on him with their BB guns.

During a canvass of the neighborhood, officers were able to identify the primary shooter, a 15-year-old black male. Police are still searching for the second shooter involved in this case.The victim was transported to the hospital due to the extent of his injuries. This is an ongoing investigation.

Assault on Law Enforcement
On Nov. 28, 2011, Manassas City police officers were summoned to the 9200 block of Hood Road regarding a fight. Upon the officers’ arrival, they encountered an intoxicated male subject, later identified as Sebastian Quintero Vergara, 23, of 10437 Monte Rosa Place. After several warnings to depart the area, Quintero Vergara walked up to one of the officers as if he was going to strike him.

Quintero Vergara became combative, striking one of the officers as they were placing him under arrest. Sebastian Quintero Vergara was placed under arrest and charged with Assault on Law Enforcement, Obstruction of Justice by Force, Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, Intoxicated in Public and Performing an Obscene Sexual Display. The last charge was due to his behavior towards the officers just prior to being arrested.

He was held at the Prince William Adult Detention Center with no bond. His court date was set for Dec. 27, 2011.

Felonious Assault
On Nov. 27, 2011, at approximately 8 p.m., Manassas City police officers were summoned to the 9800 block of Maury Lane, regarding a stabbing. Upon their arrival, the victim told officers that he was drinking with the offender, Alfredo Hernandez Franco, 49, of 9813 Maury Lane, when Hernandez Franco produced a folding knife and slashed the victim’s neck. The victim sustained a six-inch superficial wound to his neck.

Hernandez Franco was still on scene when officers arrived. He was placed under arrest and charged with Malicious Wounding. He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond. His court date was set for Jan. 19, 2012.

Intoxicated Subject Arrest
On Nov. 24, 2011, at approximately 2:15 a.m., a Manassas City police officer was patrolling the top level of the parking garage, located on Prince William Street, when he encountered an intoxicated male subject sleeping in his car.

The subject, identified as Brendan Michael Ross, 25, of Falls Church, VA, was placed under arrest and charged with Intoxicated in Public. During a search of the offender, a smoking device, along with a small baggie, labeled “K-2, Super Summit,” was found in his pocket.

Ross was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center and was released once he became sober. The recovered items were collected and sent to the lab for further analysis. Charges are pending on Ross for Possession of Synthetic Narcotic.
 
Narcotics Arrest
On Nov. 25, 2011, at approximately 9 p.m., a Manassas City police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 9600 block of Aspen Place, pertaining to a defective equipment violation. Further investigation revealed that two of the occupants were in possession of drug paraphernalia. Also found in the vehicle was a small amount of cocaine and pills.

Sheila Marie Thomas, 43, of Marshall, VA, was placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Schedule I Narcotic. She was held on a $3,500 bond. Her court date was set for Dec. 27, 2011.

Kevin Jenkins, 49, (No fixed address) was also placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Schedule I Narcotic and Possession of Schedule II Narcotic.
He was held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond. His court date was also set for Dec. 27, 2011.

The third subject was not charged and sent on her way.
