Manassas City Police Beat 11/28/11

Felonious Assault
On Nov. 24, 2011 at approximately 4:20 p.m., Manassas City police officers were summoned to the 9600 block of Aspen Place regarding an assault.  Upon their arrival, they were advised that a group of males had beaten up another male and had left him on the ground semi-conscious and bleeding.

The call was originally dispatched as a shooting because witnesses on scene had called police and reported that the victim had been shot. Further investigation revealed that one of the offenders, during the altercation, produced a handgun and fired multiple shots into the air but did not actually shoot the victim. The male who fired the gun was described as black, heavy set, clean shaven, approximately 5’8”-5’10” tall. He was wearing a black jacket, dark colored t-shirt and a burgundy hat with white letters on the side. The victim was flown out to Fairfax Hospital due to the severity of his wounds. This is an ongoing investigation.

Felonious Assault
On Nov. 25, 2011, at approximately 1:15 a.m., Manassas City police officers responded to the 8400 block of Piney Point Court regarding an assault. Upon the officers’ arrival they were met by two subjects who were tending to the victim’s wounds. Further investigation revealed that the victim was returning home from a neighborhood party when he was hit over the head with a blunt object. The victim was flown out to Fairfax Hospital due to the severity of his wounds. At this time, there is no description of the offender. This is an ongoing investigation.

Hit & Run
Manassas City Police are asking for assistance in finding two vehicles that were involved in a fight on Nov. 26, 2011, at approximately 6 p.m. Manassas City police officers responded to the area of Byrd Park regarding a large fight. Upon their arrival, the combatants scattered and one vehicle, a green in color, late nineties sedan, possibly a Honda, sped away, almost striking one of the officers. The car struck a parked vehicle while fleeing the scene. Another vehicle, a silver two door coupe, possibly a Ford Probe or Mercury Cougar was seen leaving the area at a very high rate of speed. The silver car displayed a possible Virginia tag “JYH-8480.” The tag did not return on file when checked with Department of Motor Vehicles. This is an ongoing investigation.

Hit & Run
Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a Hit & Run incident that occurred on Nov. 25, 2011, at approximately 11:10 p.m. The victim advised officers that he was stopped at a traffic light on Nokesville Road and Godwin Drive, when he was rear-ended by a silver Chevrolet Sports Utility Vehicle, displaying Virginia tag “XAW-5128.” The driver of the SUV immediately left the area without exchanging information with the victim. The tag number returned to an address in Fauquier County. This is an ongoing investigation.
