Armed Robbery
On Oct. 9 at 3:27 a.m., police responded to the 1700 block of Tilletson Place in Woodbridge for a robbery. The male victim, 39 of Woodbridge, reported to police that he was walking in the area above when he was approached by two unknown men. Both men displayed handguns and demanded money. One of the men struck the victim with the handgun and took an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency before both men fled the area. The victim was transported to an area hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. The victim was unable to provide police with a description of the assailants.
Reckless Handling of a Firearm
On Oct. 12 at 9:22 p.m., police responded to the 3500 block of Macon Way in Dumfries for a shots fired call. Caller reported to police that multiple gunshots had been heard in the area. Police canvassed the area and did not locate any signs of a shooting. No suspects were located and no injuries or property damage were reported.
ARRESTS
Attempted Malicious Wounding / Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer
On Oct. 8 at 12:20 p.m., police responded to the 3300 block of Mountain Laurel Loop in Dumfries for a domestic. As police made contact with the residence, the accused, a juvenile, became extremely disorderly, breaking numerous items within the residence. The accused pushed past an officer and grabbed a lamp, which he then attempted to use to strike the victim, his mother, 48. As police attempted to stop the assault, the accused then began to swing the lamp at officers but did not make contact. Officers were able to take the lamp away but the accused then struck an officer several times to the face before police were able to gain control over him. Minor injuries were reported. Prior to police arrival, the accused attempted to strike another family member, a 12-year-old girl, with a piece of glass but no contact was made. Arrested: A 16-year-old male of Woodbridge. Charged with attempted malicious wounding of a law enforcement officer, assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, attempted malicious wounding, resisting arrest and destruction of property. Court date unavailable, held at a juvenile detention facility.
Assault & Battery on Law Enforcement Officer
On Oct. 11 at 10:25 p.m., police encountered a disorderly subject at Potomac Hospital at 2300 Opitz Blvd. in Woodbridge who was being disruptive towards hospital staff. As officers were arresting that subject, the accused, a family member, rushed towards them in a combative nature. A security guard for the hospital attempted to intervene and was subsequently shoved out of the way by the accused. The accused then pushed one of the police officers as they attempted to place her under arrest for assaulting the security guard. Compliance was eventually gained and minor injuries were reported. Arrested: Sanae Ballafrikh, 29, of 3831 Wagon Wheel Lane in Lake Ridge. Charged with assault and battery on a law enforcement officer, assault and battery and obstruction of justice. Court date set for Nov. 22, 2011, released on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
Malicious Wounding
On Oct. 8 at 2:21 a.m., police responded to the 15100 block of Cloverdale Road in Dale City for a fight. The male victim, 24 of Manassas, reported to police that he and the accused, a known acquaintance, were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated. During the encounter, the accused allegedly struck the victim causing injuries to his face and body. The accused was arrested without incident and charged. The victim received treatment for his injuries. Arrested: Paul Eugene O’Conner, 26, of 7579 Margate Ct. #103 in Manassas. Charged with malicious wounding. Court date unavailable, held without bond.
OTHER INCIDENT REPORTS
Burglary
On Oct. 12 at 1:24 p.m., police responded to the 6100 block of Tag Ct. in Woodbridge for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 12:20 and 12:45 p.m. Entry appeared to have been made through a rear sliding glass door. There were no signs of forced entry. No items were reported missing.
Burglary
On Oct. 12 at 11:25 a.m., police responded to the 4200 block of Gregg St. in Woodbridge for a burglary. Homeowner reported to police that the burglary occurred between 2 and 8 a.m. Entry appeared to have been made through a lower-level rear window. It appeared someone removed a window air conditioning unit from the window to gain entry. A laptop, cell phone and wallet valued around $2,600 were reported missing.
