Manassas City Police Beat 10/3/11

Robbery
Manassas City Police are investigating a robbery that occurred on Oct.1, 2011 at approximately 2 p.m., in the 9400 block of Taney Road. The victim stated to officers that he was walking in the area of Taney Road, when he was robbed of an undisclosed amount of money. The victim sustained minor injuries to the head and neck area. The victim could not supply the officers with suspect information, only that the four suspects were black.

Vandalism
Manassas City Police are investigating a report of vandalism that occurred in the 9300 block of Litho Lane. The incident, which occurred between 9 p.m. on Sept.29, 2011 and 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 30, 2011 involved someone(s) spray painting obscenities on a wall pertaining to a business.

Attempting Larceny
On Oct. 1, 2011, an employee at the Home Depot store, located on Liberia Avenue, foiled the plans of three individuals that were attempting to break into the store’s Coca Cola machine. The three subjects, a white male and two Hispanic males, were attempting to break into the soda machine but were scared off by the employee. The offenders did not gain access but caused approximately $500 in damages to the soda machine. The incident was captured on the store’s video surveillance camera.

Assault Arrest
On Oct. 1, 2011, a citizen contacted the police department and advised officers that he had just fought off a subject who was attempting to gain entry into his residence. The victim advised officers that at approximately 1:05 a.m., he was entering his residence when the offender, later identified as John Marc Mayhew, 32, of Palmyra, VA, attempted to push his way into the residence.

According to the victim, after stopping Mayhew at the front door, Mayhew ran to the back of the house and attempted to gain entry through the rear entrance. Per the victim, he struck the Mayhew with a guitar, thus causing him to fall down the outside steps and pass out at the bottom landing.

While at the hospital, Mayhew became combative, spitting at one of the officers. Mayhew was medically cleared and transported to the Prince William Adult Detention Center. He was charged with Unlawful Entry, Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer and Public Intoxication. He was held at the detention center on a $7,500.00 bond. His court date was set for Nov. 15, 2011.

Narcotics Arrests
On Sept. 29, 2011, at approximately 11:20 p.m., a Manassas City Police Officer was patrolling the area of George Street and Aspen Place, when he encountered a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle’s driver, Jeryl Thomas Quinitchettey, of 9202 Taney Road, advised the officer that he was waiting for a friend. A short time later, another subject approached the vehicle. The second male was identified as Charles E. Hogan, of 9264 Taney Road.

Further investigation revealed that both subjects were in possession of Marijuana. Mr. Quinitchetty (age 22) and Mr. Hogan (age 24) were cited for Possession of Marijuana and released on their signatures. Their court dates were set for Oct. 25, 2011.
