Heathcote hospital still on track

Plans are moving forward to build a 60-bed hospital in Haymarket, according to Mary Beth Gibson, Prince William Health System spokeswoman.

The $94 million hospital will be on a 40-acres site near the intersection of U.S. 15 and Interstate 66 near the existing Heathcote health facility that offers emergency care, houses doctors’ offices and cancer screening services, among other preventive and responsive treatments.

Hospital officials are currently “moving forward with the appropriate permitting process. As we work through this phase, we will finalize the hospital design and plan for construction,” Gibson said.

She expects the new facility to open in January 2015. Construction is likely to start in 2013, but Gibson said there is no exact date set yet. Prince William County permits must be in place before a groundbreaking timeline can be created. Construction will take two years, she estimated.
