Kids eating snow cones, cotton candy and funnel cakes. Moms and dads trying to handle oversized stuffed animals won by children on the midway in one arm while holding a drink or burger in the other. Barkers trying to lure the next customer to a game of chance in hopes of winning a prize. Farm youngsters sprucing up their calf or goat in the competition for a blue ribbon.

County fairs are a great place to meet your neighbors, have some fun and let your hair down a little bit. The Prince William County Fair is no exception..

Now in its 62nd year, the fair advertises itself as the largest in the state. It ran this from Aug. 12 through the 20 on the county fairgrounds off Dumfries Road in Manassas.

Prince William County Fair offers food, fun and a bit of country flair for locals and people who travel from far away to come back to the fair.

Read more about the Fair, which opened Aug. 12 and closes Aug. 20, in an upcoming issue of the Observer newspapers.
