PW nurses donate funds to Head Start

Each year the Prince William Health Systems’ nurses hold a fundraiser to generate money for different organizations in the county. This year, the group gave the money to area Head Start programs in Prince William County, Manassas City and Manassas Park schools.

The group raised the funds by creating gift baskets with different themes including Fun in the Sun, Barbeque and Cookies. Raffle tickets were sold for the gift baskets and the group presented Head Start program representatives with the proceeds from the raffles.

The Prince William County Schools’ website describes the Head Start Program as “a federally funded program for preschool children from low-income families. The Head Start program is operated by Prince William County Public Schools for children between the ages of 4 and 5 years old. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities, receive medical and dental care, and participate in the USDA food program. Services are also offered to meet the special needs of children with disabilities.”
