Antioch Baptist to mark 178th anniversary Sept. 27
On Sunday September 27, 2015 Antioch Baptist Church in Haymarket will celebrate its 178th anniversary.
Organized in April 1837 and the building completed in 1838, this church was a haven for both the Confederate and Union soldiers during the Civil War.
There are many graves of the Civil War fighters in the church cemetery and parishioners continue to have
services in the church and to be buried there.
The celebration will include guest speakers and musicians in the 11 a.m. service followed by a picnic on the church grounds.
The church is located at 16509 Waterfall Road near the intersection of Waterfall Road and Antioch Road.
