Candidates for chairman of the Prince William Board of County Supervisors will participate in a debate on business and education Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. and the community is invited to attend.
Republican incumbent Corey A. Stewart and Democrat Richard H. “Rick” Smith III will meet for the debate on the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.
The debate will take place in the Howsmon Lecture Hall at 6901 Sudley Road in Manassas. The debate is being hosted in partnership by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce and NOVA.
Debbie Jones, chamber president and CEO, was quoted in a press release as saying, it is “important for the local business community to remain engaged in the political process.” She said chamber members want “to hear the candidates’ visions for the future of Prince William County and ideas for maintaining a favorable business climate.”
NOVA’s Manassas campus Provost Roger Ramsammy was quoted in the press release as saying, “We want to hear about the long-term strategies each candidate will convey regarding education in Prince William County.”
Ramsammy added, “Our county boasts two Northern Virginia Community College campuses and the chairman’s emphasis on higher education will be critical for our entire community, workforce development and beyond.”
The debate will be moderated by Krysta Nicole Jones, founder and CEO of the Virginia Leadership Institute.
